Get hyped!
Hello hackers!
We're super excited to remind you all that Steel City Hacks kicks off in under 2 weeks! Hackathon participants can check back in one week for our one-word theme announcement. In the meantime, we have some exciting new updates to share with you about our event, which you can read all about below.
Updates to Prizes & Goodies:
Thanks to our generous sponsors, we've increased the total prize pool for Steel City Hacks! Our new prizes are available on our Devpost, but we've itemized the changes below:
- Our Best Overall prizes for the Hackathon and Ideathon now receive the choice between a pair of Sennheiser headphones or a quadcopter drone (one per team).
- Our Ideathon Best Overall, Hackathon 2nd Place (Overall), Hackathon 3rd Place (Overall), and Hackathon Most Technical Complexity prizes have each had their team-wide gift card dollar amounts increased by $25.
- We will now award one additional Compelling Beginner Project award.
- All award winners now receive a lifetime license to Taskade Unlimited.
We've also made changes to goodies for all registrants! Create a Taskade account using the email you registered for Devpost with to get a free 5-year upgrade to Taskade Unlimited (valued at $5/mo) by 12/3. Sign up for Voiceflow at our landing page to redeem a free 6-month upgrade to Voiceflow Teams (valued at $50/mo). Check your email for 12/1 for another reminder + more info on Wolfram|One subscriptions for all registrants.
Finally, Steel City Hacks is handing out swag to all submitting participants! After submitting to Devpost, all team members may complete this form to redeem a free shirt and sticker pack. Please note that this form will become available on 12/3, when our submissions period opens (we'll resend it several more times throughout the event). Please also note that we are only able to ship physical goods within the contiguous United States.
Updates to Workshop Schedule:
We apologize for the delays in our program schedule--a full schedule will be announced next week. However, we're pleased to share with you the workshops/events we will be offering this year:
- Intro to Tensorflow & Machine Learning
- Hardware & Computer Science Theory
- Git & Collaborative Coding
- College Q&A (feat. Ivy League student panelists!)
These events will run one time throughout the week of 12/3-12/10, but recordings + slides will be made available to all participants.
We hope you are as excited as we are for our event to get underway! Support is available on our Devpost's discussion forum, our Discord, and by emailing hackathons@steelcitycodes.org.
